TRK 02Sound

Electric jazz with its feet on the floor.

Groove Galaxy plays original music written by keyboardist Oliver Hahn and guitarist Michael Vochezer. The roots are in the electric bands of the late seventies and early eighties: Rhodes and synths, singing guitar, a bass that won't sit still. The tunes are built like songs and played like jazz – tight themes, wide-open solos, and a rhythm section that keeps the room moving. No two nights sound the same.

TRK 05The band

Four people listening very closely.

Four equals. Oliver and Michael write the tunes – the arrangements happen together, in the room, with everyone's fingerprints on them.

TRK 06Liner notes

The making of Hitchhikin'.

Twelve originals, one studio, a lot of coffee and pretzels. Hitchhikin' was the first time Groove Galaxy put its book on tape – charts on the stands, headphones on, everybody in the room.

On bass: Patrick Scales, who shaped the band's sound through its first years and this record. The tunes have kept growing on stage ever since – and the next record is on its way.
